what a beautiful and insightful clip tyler the creator and jill scott just did an interview on @humantohuman_us and we got this beautiful clip from it where tyler spoke on what honestly is one of the most vulnerable and personal tracks on ‘chromakopia’ in ‘hey jane’ I remember the discourse around ‘hey jane’ right when the album dropped, especially related to tyler speaking on a topic we as tyler fans really didn’t expect from him. but the one thing that REALLY blew me away that I think artists can benefit from hearing as well is how he delivered the perfomance on the song the SAME way he had the tough conversation with his partner about pregnancy anyone that has went through this likely realizes just how much of an uncertain, scary conversation it is. and for tyler, he speaks on how he literally remembered the very convesation he had with his partner while he was recording, and speaking through in the mic in the same “trying to remain calm” deadpan way he spoke to his partner during the conversation, while delivering his partner’s part in a more manic, trembling voice these conversations are so difficult and they’re ones that various partners have every day across the world, and while I think many of us didn’t expect such a heavy lyrical topic from tyler to be delivered so openly, the growth we witnessed, on the album with various tracks such as ‘like him,’ but especially this song too, was bequtiful it’s beautiful to hear how artists can speak on delivering their art in such a way that is truly reflective of their own personal experience, and if you are an artist, I think this is something that should encourage you to remain vulnerable in your work in the same way. certainly the song has become a classic in the tyler community, and some fans were even doubtful of this conversation being real, so it’s nice to hear directly from tyler that it indeed was, and was difficult to go through thoughts on the song and tyler saying this overall? as a fan, listener, and artist? lmk below; love y’all <3 — #tylerthecreator #chromakopia #kanye #rap #frankocean
