About FREEPALESTINE
The situation for Palestinians—especially in Gaza—remains extremely difficult. While the intensity of the fighting has changed since the height of the war, everyday life is still dominated by displacement, damaged infrastructure, shortages, and insecurity.
Here's what daily life is like for many Palestinians today:
Housing: Hundreds of thousands of people are still living in tents or damaged buildings because many homes were destroyed. Summer heat has made conditions even harder, with families seeking relief wherever they can.
Food and water: Access to food has improved compared with the worst periods of the war in some areas, but many families still struggle to get enough nutritious food. Clean drinking water is scarce, and people often have to ration it for drinking, cooking, and washing.
Healthcare: Hospitals and clinics continue to face shortages of medicines, fuel, and medical supplies. Many facilities have been damaged, and healthcare workers are operating under severe pressure.
Education: Many schools were damaged or are being used as shelters, meaning many children have experienced long interruptions to their education.
Mental health: Many families have experienced the loss of loved ones, repeated displacement, and ongoing uncertainty. Aid organizations report widespread trauma, especially among children.
In the West Bank, life is different from Gaza but also very challenging. Many Palestinians face movement restrictions, economic hardship, and increased tensions, including military operations and violence involving Israeli settlers in some areas.
The conflict is also highly contested politically and legally. For example, a recent UN commission concluded that Israel committed grave violations against Palestinians, including allegations of genocide, while the Israeli government rejected those findings as false and biased. These issues continue to be debated internationally.
