Convertible JPY Token (CJPY) is a decentralized stablecoin designed to maintain a peg to the Japanese Yen, operating on the Ethereum blockchain. It is issued through the Yamato Protocol, a non-custodial platform developed by the DeFiGeek Community Japan. CJPY is overcollateralized with Ethereum, offering a secure and stable value proposition for users within the decentralized finance ecosystem. One of the standout features of CJPY is its high collateral factor, ensuring a minimum health rate of 130%. This allows for efficient use of collateral while minimizing the risk of liquidation. Furthermore, users benefit from the absence of accrued interest, only incurring a one-time issuance fee when generating CJPY. The protocol also allows for non-forced liquidation, meaning users can redeem their debt positions without penalties if their health rates drop below 130%. Yamato Protocol has a rich development history, having been initiated in January 2021. It has undergone several testing phases, including alpha and beta testing on the Rinkeby testnet, and successfully launched its first version on the Ethereum mainnet in July 2023. The community-driven approach invites contributions from developers to enhance DeFi tools and applications. Looking ahead, Yamato Protocol plans to introduce a DAO utility token and implement governance features in its upcoming version 1.5. The roadmap also includes the issuance of additional stablecoins, such as convertible EUR and USD, further expanding its ecosystem.
