Chroma

Chroma is a public, open-source blockchain developed by Chromaway AB, a Swedish company. Launched in May 2019, Chroma is designed to enhance decentralized applications (dApps) by providing a scalable and efficient platform. It is based on innovative technology adapted from the earlier Postchain solution, aimed at enterprise clients. As a standalone Layer-1 blockchain and an EVM-compatible Layer-2 enhancement, Chroma integrates seamlessly with Binance Smart Chain and Ethereum. Its unique architecture incorporates a relational blockchain and a custom programming language called Rell, which offers a coding experience similar to SQL. This allows developers to utilize the security of blockchain while managing data as efficiently as a relational database. Each dApp on the Chroma network operates on its own sidechain, ensuring enhanced scalability and flexibility. Developers can choose from different fee structures, enabling users to pay transaction fees in Chroma or stake enough tokens to access unlimited transactions without additional costs. This adaptability caters to the diverse needs of various applications. Chroma has already facilitated the development of several applications, including a DeFi trading platform and a gaming ecosystem. Notably, it is working on an NFT standard called Chromia Originals, which will enhance both its native chain and existing ERC-721 and BEP-721 tokens.
