Wrapped BEAM is a confidential cryptocurrency built on the innovative Mimblewimble protocol, designed to enhance scalability and privacy in transactions. This token offers users complete control over their privacy, ensuring that all transactions are private by default without storing addresses or personal information on the blockchain. Its compact blockchain size contributes to superior scalability, making it efficient for various transaction types. The governance model of Wrapped BEAM is established without a pre-mine or initial coin offering, relying instead on a treasury system. Following the mainnet launch, the protocol will be overseen by a non-profit foundation, ensuring transparency and community involvement in its development. To facilitate transactions, wallet owners can initiate them through secure channels, whether online or offline. The process employs the Schnorr protocol for secure signing, enhancing the security and privacy of each transaction. Transactions are composed of inputs and outputs represented by Pedersen Commitments, accompanied by explicit fees and non-interactive zero-knowledge proofs to validate output values. Once created, transactions are transmitted to nodes for verification against the current blockchain state, stored as a Merkle Tree. Mined blocks are produced approximately every minute, with valid blocks extending the longest chain being propagated throughout the network to achieve consensus. Wrapped BEAM also incorporates a fast sync feature, allowing new nodes to connect to the network and request a compacted history. This enables them to access the essential system state and blockchain headers without the need to download the entire transaction history, streamlining the onboarding process for new participants.
